This piece is meticulously crafted using the Silk-Feather Sandalwood Carving technique. In the scene, a pair of rabbits lean close to each other with gentle, affectionate expressions. Their fur is rendered layer by layer, every hair distinctly visible, vivid and full of life. Beside them grow fragrant grasses, with drooping branches and lush leaves, the vegetation fresh and elegant, setting off a serene, pastoral atmosphere. Since ancient times, the rabbit has been regarded as an auspicious and spiritual creature; a pair together symbolizes harmonious companionship and the well-being of the whole family. The wood has a deep, warm tone with naturally flowing grain. The artist uses the knife as a brush, condensing the tender warmth of living creatures into a single table screen—movement and stillness in harmony, with a refined and elegant artistic conception.
